Come Rain or Shine:
If it's raining, I won't be there.
Ride Database Entry:
Old Man's Valley
Meeting Point:

End of Quarry Road, Hornsby - Parking is well signposted, directing cars to park at the END of the road. If this is full, park in the Dural Street carpark.

A group training ride - starting with a couple of warm-up laps of OMV, then Quarry Track, Old Northern Rd to Cherrybrook, some trails and single track around Cherrybrook, then back to Pennant Hills via Stringybark Ridge, then Westleigh before returning to OMV.

The plan is to establish a small training group for the lead-up to the Fling. As a guide, the pace will be set around the "3-hour half fling" mark, but we can accommodate slower & faster riders by splitting up on the single track loops. Of course even if you're not racing the Fling you're welcome!

For this "prologue" we will go at an easier pace, then maybe step it up a bit from week 2 Smiling

There are water stops along the way - I usually go with one bottle only.

This will not be a beginners' ride. There are some very steep climbs and about 1300m of climbing all up. The overall difficulty is similar to the half fling, but with a bit more techy singletrack thrown in. And being a training ride we'll try not to stop too often. There are a few road sections to link it all up.

Weather forecast is great - should be fun!

What is the distance on this, not including laps of OMV

jp's picture

About 50km I think... depends how many loops we do at Cherrybrook and Westleigh.

Hi all.
I'm new to nobmob but been riding for a bit. Need to shake off the winter cobwebs and looking forward to exploring some new trails. Looks like a fantastic day weather wise. Thanks for posting this ride JP.
