How much land do you need for a 15km track?

So, my dream is to become a millionaire & be able to buy a bit of land to develop into MTB heaven. My question is, how much land would you need to be able to create a continuous 15km XC track?

Lefty Service

As is my way of recording small maintenance jobs...

The Rush's Lefty got a service this week and it got two new bearings in the headset.

The bearings gone at only 13 months old are a bit of a disappointment, but then again the summer's rain will not have helped.

Lefty was due for a service anyhow, but the damping wasn't feeling quiet right last few rides and I noticed some oil on the air valve. Turns out a seal inside had leaked allowing damping oil to get into the bottom air chamber, no wonder the feeling was off! One seal in a year's riding isn't such a bad outcome.

So the weekend begins and not too soon, as the thought of last years trip is still lingering in the back of my mind…..could it be as good as last year….

We head out on the road at about 7ish and the traffic is non existent which is great, as Liam and I drift down the dual carriageway our attention is drawn towards the weather….its a nice clear day amongst patches of fog along the way.

It was misty and cool
not stormy and dark
As we nervously met
in old car space.

There was Mark and Peter on the giants
but for me GT made sense
Darren and Joel on Santa Cruz
and Meggs on his Tracer

Over the gate
and away we went
Through fog and light rain
that didn't let up

The trail was fast and fun
but then something went bump!
how that bump made us
sail through the air.

Up a small hill
we regroup at the top
then down the other side
so steep it was hard to slow down

What followed was more
of the same
with water bars so big

UST time

Well got a bit lucky today when I realised after the ride that I had a torn sidewall.
Torn sidewall
I sure am having no luck with tyre's and tubes on my new bike. First I get a glass puncture right at the finish of the Dirtworks. Must have been one of those warm beer bottles that we all got handed at the finish line!

Then last week I get a pinch flat after going off a drop in Manly. The tubes that come standard with the Trance X0 sure are damn thin! Some sort of Maxxis lightweight tube.

Alternative Enduor track loop

They emerged from the darkness under the big sky of the Newnes Plateau. The milky way blazing in the crisp clear Autumn air.

Godlings on demon steeds. The 4 winds of time. They met on the plateau in a place know to some as Bungleborri camp, some as Nine Mile Cabin and yet others as Forestry Hut, the whatever cabin or hut had once stood there had long ago been eaten but the march of time.

Enduro Track

It's been ages since I've ridden the the Enduro loop[1] so, being a beaut morning I decided to skive off work and go for a ride. I couldn't be bother contending with the coldness of the creek so opted to ride up the road[2] rather than the short cut up waterworks gully. This was fairly boring, I didn't even have any truck try and squish me as I plodded up Scenic Hill.

Finally I got the the Zig Zag car park and headed on to the dirt of Newnes Forest Rd. A bit more pedaling brought me to a bit of single track that I thought was a short cut to the start of the run down to the MotoX track...

Beter Than....

A glorious night for a ride saw 6 of us meet at the bottom of Bergoffers Pass. Just don't fall to the left, was the advice given to the night riding newbie. Strange as it seems the view in the dark seems even bigger as you look on on the tiny house lights in the distance.

From there we cruised on up to the top, took a left into the ST leading Lockyers line of Road. Some little pinches before turning on to Lockyers with the now firm water bars and winding single trail. Absolute majic!
