A few keen eyed readers - guys... really... have you got nothing better to do? Eye-wink - have noticed Warringah Council has announced they are starting the Manly Dam PoM review process in their latest newsletter:

http://warringah.nsw.gov.au/news_events/document...

Council is in the early stages of preparing a new Plan of Management for Manly Warringah War Memorial Park (Manly Dam). The previous Plan was finished in July 1998 and many of its initiatives and actions are now complete. A new Plan will take a fresh look at what the community values about the Park. As detailed in Council’s ‘Community Consultation Policy’, gathering community views and input is an essential first step of every Management Plan.

Park users are currently being identified and invited to contribute their views on the values of Manly Dam. The first of many community opportunities for input will be held on Tuesday June 22 with a focus group for mountain bikers, followed by bushwalkers on Monday June 28, and waterways users on Wednesday June 30. These groups will be asked why Manly Dam is important to them and what they value about the
area. Ultimately the Plan will develop actions to maintain, protect and enhance these values and set a new vision for the Park.

This is not a public meeting, but sounds like it's easy enough to get on the invite list.

This isn't a turn up and show numbers kind of meeting, but if you want to show your support the meeting will essentially be structured around two main topics.

1. What is so important about Manly Dam?
2. What do you value most about Manly Dam?

It isn't a meeting about maintenance etc, or an opportunity to push the MTB agenda to other usergroups. I spoke to Erica who seems like a really nice person trying to organise this for all of us so please don't just turn up unannounced. She was more than happy to add my name to list. So if you do want to come drop her a line so at least she knows who's coming along.

Meeting starts at 7.30 at Manly Vale Community Centre, entry via Innes Rd.

For various reasons I wasn't able to make it along last night. How were the discussions Rob?

I think the meeting went well, plenty of values were brought up, which was what the meeting was about.

You never can tell with this sort of thing if the points raised will actually be accounted for in the final PoM though.

Here's hoping, although no time frame for PoM publication was discussed.

It was also revealed that Warringah Council is working on a MTB white paper that will outline the state of riding (or lack thereof) in the region. I think end of the year was mentioned for this paper. While it is nice, we already know the state of play. Maybe they cannot take our word for this though, so hopefully the council will formulate a plan when they have their own evidence of demand and lack of facilities.

Shows they're thinking about it now at least and that us mountain bikers are not going to go away and let this die.

must go out to Erica and Vicki from Warringah Council for holding the meeting!

Meeting went well, lots of positive values and constructive suggestions put forth.

More consultation is to come, and they said we will be kept informed.

Good work everyone!

I was looking for the POM just now and notice that it's still dated July 1998 Sad
