Been reading on Trailflix that it was due for opening in August.

Do we know if its open yet for a spin this weekend?

bit of a mystery on the official opening ,I was thinking of just showing up and see what happens.

Too many riders have caused some damage to the trails before they have bedded in properly

Looks like being at the end of August now

occur by riders before bedding in? That is how the track gets bedded the more riders on it is a way it will get bedded as far as I can tell , how do you think Dargle got bedded on the w/end ?

But perhaps because of all the rain we have had , either way the opening has been delayed and that is what they are saying .

I would have to agree with you that the best way to bed in the track is to ride on it .....

If i hear any more i will post it .. OK ?

If anything was constructed such as berms, benching or any rock sections held by soil that stuff has to "set" by getting wet, then drying out, then getting wet.. etc etc. Those features if they are ridden too much before they become compacted dirt will just fall apart and be mush sludgy messes when ridden upon.

Riding to bed features in works best on just cut trails where no building has been done.

Sorry to have raised such controversy over this.

Just glad that the trail fairy's are out there making an effort to begin with.

Trail maintenance volunteer days has been a thing of the past on the trails of late and we feel pretty useless i'm guessin...

Hi guys, the Mount Annan Botanic Garden track is almost ready. Dirtz have been back finishing off crossings etc and seeing what can be improved following a couple of trial rides (and a heap of rain). We are quickly trying to install some singage and ensuring we have support from our department and local government for the work we have done before we open. With some luck we are only a couple of weeks away. Sorry I can't give a firm date yet (still trying for last weekend in August) but we really appreciate everyones patience. As soon as it's open we'll send out as much info as possible via various sites. Also keep an eye on our web page http://www.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/annan . Until then we ask riders to stay off as the track will be closed... although you're welcome to ride elsewhere within the garden. Cheers Dan (MABG)

Excellent. I've put a stub ride entry here:

http://nobmob.com/rides/mountannan

For now this is mainly so people can arrange meetings there and post trail status reports.

Hopefully we can write more in the future, get some pictures and a GPS, etc.
