Wingello, Penrose or other

Next week I'm in Robertson (half way between Kiama and Moss vale)
I think I can swing one full day for 'proper' mtb'ing
For someone with not much sense of direction (I can follow trails or arrows) should I head for Wingello or Penrose state forest. These are the one's that sound familiar. Or is there somewhere closer to R'son.
And where would I find some info (like maps, directions etc) on getting to and around on the trails - I have googled but not much info.
Thanks for any advice.

You want to head for Wingello and either ride the WWS loop:

... or the part of the Fling course which consists of the 'Virgin Blue Network' with the great wall and other features (these are the first two stages):

If you load both of these in Google Earth you'll see that the Fling course went on a bit longer in the Sniggle so you can follow that before cutting back to the start (start/finish at the basecamp). If you are feeling confident and want to extend the loop head down Gulp Road and ride the sniggle South of there on the way to Nyes Creek Road and do fern gully before hitting the sniggle - that should make an excellent loop.

Apparently there are now signposts all over Wingello pointing out the tracks. Well, the last Wild Horizons update said so but you should take your own map just in case! I'd recommend at least a topo and a compass if you have no GPS, but it's very tricky as all the trees look the same and there's no large landmarks!

FWIW, Pratiwi and I will be down that way Easter weekend and plan to do riding in both Wingello and Penrose.

Rob's right, Wingello is definately the ticket. Great singletrack there now, and lots of it.

If you need a map you can buy them at the information centre at the start of Moss Vale. These are the same maps put out by the guys who built them so they should be spot on!

Wingello it is.
Just spoke to Huw who is sending me the $12 map of the trails in the area.
Hopefully they're idiot proof.
It's actually week after next, but won't be there over Easter Rob unfortuantely.
