Red Hill - Friday 21st March

I haven't actually done Red Hill yet, so am keen to get up there and check it out. Using Robs great page as reference (http://nobmob.com/rides/redhill) up the hard way from Wakehurst Parkway, to the top and explore some rocky goodness and spend enough time to rack up 30-40km's, perhaps more. Aim to waste most of the day if we can.

Start Time
Probably going to ride up sometime early in the morning (around 9am)

Start point
Using Robs page as a reference aiming to explore the option where he says “...down Oxford Falls Road West (from Nursery Rhymes), turn left up Wakehurst Parkway and then cross and into 4WD Folly”. If this is a no go then we will attempt The Academy of Sport option.

I would put this in the calendar but haven't done so before so reckoned I would give this a go first.

Anyone else up for a ride in the rain?

Am no expert on Red Hill, but reckon you'd be pushed to do those kays round there.

Am shocked Mr Ditty isn't up for this kind of caper, where is he? Eye-wink

Quiet a few people are heading off over the break of course, perhaps it'll be a bit quiet on the Sydney trails?

... we could start on Morgan road and do Slippery Dip to Deep Creek to the end and then make our way down to the road, that would add almost 15 km's to the over all trip, has to help. That will warm us up for the uphill at the sport academy.

Lady Toast, you're defiantely onto something there if you want to rack up those kind of ks.

Best option I'd recommened is to start at the water crossing on the road at the bottom of Oxford Falls road. Ride up to Morgan Rd from there.

At the end after you've done the ride and come to the bottom of FWD Folley, if you follow the trails around you can come out at the sewage thingo on Wakehusrt Parkway, then it's a quick 200m up to where you've parked.

Means no big climbs at the end of the ride - get to finish off stoked with Red Hill!

Great loop that takes in alot of different terrian.

Red Hill is fun to ride but you don't go there looking to rack up K's it is far too technical for that. It's more of a place you go there with mates and a 5+ inch travel bike and have fun.

Moto-X riders also like Red Hill so it is rutted and stays boggy long after everything else is dry. If its raining or wet expect a mud-fest.

Sorry, I am already riding somewhere else on Friday afternoon, off-line with some mates. Otherwise I would be all over this.

Dylan, make sure you take your arm and knee guards with you. If you like technical riding, it is fantastic. But, if you're anything like me, there is every chance you'll end up on your arse a few times.

It is supposed to rain only a little bit over the Easter weekend. Nothing heavy, AFAIK.
