Hmmmm... maybe I could do this solo... and have a nice big lay down half way through! Eye-wink

Of course you can 8 hrs on 8hrs off and finish with an 8hr sprint a relatively easy total of 24hrs.

Must say, I do have a soft spot for Majura...

that would slowly deteriorate after about 8hrs and you'd bloody hate the place after 24. If there was more willing to have a go i'd be interested. I think it would spur you on knowing a few other of your riding buddies were out there and in as much pain as yourself. A bit of friendly rivalry wouldn't go a miss either!

I'm doing this one. Wanting to improve on last years result.

All I need to do is finish and that will be an improvement.

Doing more than a couple of weeks training might be a good idea this time around.

What are the DNF rules for this event? You have to complete a lap after 11am or something?

There is no way I could do this without taking many hours off for a nap, but think it would be fun to come and take part in two halves at least.

End-of-Race
The race ends for each rider when they complete a lap after 24 hours have elapsed from the start time. Riders are not allowed to commence another lap after 24 hours, but they must finish after 24 hours in order to receive a valid result. All official race times are taken from the timing tent computers.

Riders may choose to wait on course to allow the 24 hours of race time to elapse. In this case, they must wait more than 100m before the finish line and having done so they automatically give up their right to be involved in any "sprint finish" to the race.

If you wanted I supose you could do two laps and get a finish.

Do the first lap have the next 22 or so hours off and go out for the second lap and finish.

Was surprising how many riders started queuing up from 11.30 am, about 500 metres from the finish.

I rode for 3ish hours after midnight and didn't pass or get passed by another rider and then it was only English, Claxton and Fenner. At dawn I was advised a number of riders opted to take a break.

This event is so unique. Quite a village atmosphere knowing it's only you and the other solo's. The only idiot I encountered was one of the 6 + 6 racers.

Actually....there is that race, assuming they do it again next year. Although I hope they don't.

Yeah I need to do more training this year as well. It's definately an event you have to build up for.

Yes it was a good race.

I rode for 11 hrs strait before having a 3hr sleep and then managed a about 4 more hrs before I could no longer sit down on my seat. I went and had another 3 hr brake about dawn and decided I had had enough after not moving from my chair for 3hrs. Almost went back out to finish at about 10.30am but didnt feel right not having ridden the whole lot so DNF was ok with me.

This year will be singlespeed and non stop the whole way cant wait.

For those undecided it really is fun and worthwhile just ride it the way you want.

Why not come and have a laugh at me on the SS and see if you can keep up.

Yes it was a last minute decision.

This time around I will be prepared and ready to race.
