Pilot Wilderness Ride

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Inspired by ride listed on this site, I'd been dreaming about riding the Pilot Wilderness from Dead Horse Gap to the Pinch Campground for years. A few weeks ago I finally got to achieve it and what an amazing adventure.

The story is too long to post here, if you are interested in reading the detail please visit my Pilot Wilderness blog posts

Thredbo

Just back from a few days down at Thredbo and to support what others have said on here about the place, it's a lot of fun and a great place to ride.

So in the last week ive ridden coondoo(south nowra)Tilba to mystery bay,Tathra,East Jindy, cracken back and yesterday (sunday)Majura pines. The trails at majura are sensational,a real mix of flowing, fast and plenty of little kickers and berms and techy bits to keep everyone happy. The downhill tracks,Larry and Rocklobster are a blast, both ridable at most levels(my missus did a bloody quick run down rock lobster on a 100mm full susser and was grinning like an idiot at the bottom)-the faster you go,the hairier they get.Ive got to say we are pretty bloody lucky with the choices we have, and its only

Will Perisher become a year round resort with MTB?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

The following video was posted today on Youtube .. go to 8:14 for the key question. (unfortunately time links don't work here).

Imagine the trails that could be built from the main Quad down Pretty Valley and Happy Valley, plus linking existing fire trails/access roads could create some seriously long XC epics. If you google earth the fire trails that run from Smiggins to Blue Cow you will notice that they go on for many miles going right through the mountains toward Khancoban, probably a couple of days ride.

Perisher opening up would be awesome IMO.

Which Jindabyne Trails

I'm off to Jindabyne next week for 2 nights to take the kids to snow. Not going to try to snowboard this time so I'm going to bring my bike along. I should be able to squeeze in 2 rides at least, weather permitting.

Which trails should I or can I ride while over there, I've read a few reports here and other sites, and it sounds like the Tyrolean village trails and Lake Crackenback are the ones to go to. Bungarra looks good but it looks like they are closed during winter and on weekdays.

Any other recommendation ?

Thredbo/Jindabyne Garmin Connect maps?

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi All,
I am Heading to Thredbo for a week and would really like to get some Garmin Connect maps of Cascade Trail, Lake Crackenback, Bungarra and East Jindabyne?

Does anyone have anything? Just want to make sure we're riding the best parts

Thredbo Mtb Plan Under Threat?

Clearly people dont realise how low-impact a well built trail can be, and just to prove their point, they want to put in shared single track between walkers and riders... that will end well...

Thredbo Riding advise

Going to Thredbo for a few days early Jan. My thing is XC, any advise on XC rides in the area is welcome. I'd like to ride up to the top of Mt Kosciuszko and tick that off my bucket list - is that allowed? Would be a great climb from Thredbo if it is.

Cheers!
