Knee replacement

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

After putting up with the pain of damaged knees for the past few years and having just retorn all but one ligament and shredded what was left of the miniscus and articular cartilages, I'm going for knee replacement surgery and looks like it will be total knee replacement, but deciding if I can get away with the less radical surface replacement.

So the question is - anyone still riding MTB's after these types of surgery. Any recommendations/suggestions/information? Any and all info will be appreciated.

Awesome to see a whole hour to this. In previous years it's been a chopped down half an hour version

Sunday Dec 1 on SBS 2 @ 1pm-2pm

Monday Dec 2 on SBS ONE @ 4:30pm-5:30pm

(edited to avoid confusion as Maadness pointed out).

Pedal power= bushfire donations

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Had a fleeting idea, to put it bluntly, these fires are just ridiculous and I for one am wondering what to do, as much as I'd like to don a suit and fight fires it probably wouldn't help having an untrained wannabe run about, then my thoughts turned to nobmob, this is fairly large community and I then thought about organising a charity ride, then again remembered I have no experience in this and what with the current conditions it wouldn't make much sense to have large groups in the bush.

So I finally concluded that we could all self regulate donations between us, and the genius sum?

Hey Rob,

Sad days for mtb riding here in melburg. While you’re enjoying trail upgrades over there, we are going backwards. I got back from 3 weeks in Tokyo 1 ½ weeks ago, holidays were awesome.
Went for my 1st ride in 5 weeks last wkend to find that parks victoria has bulldozed most of the jumps and all the bigger jumps at Lysterfield. Apparently, due to the number of people being carted off in ambulances.
So thanks to all the idiots who can’t read the signs at the head of the advanced trails, warning them of obstacles, and proceed to fuck up, my local trails are fucked.

Tasmania ?

HI Guys

The family and I are contemplating a trip to Tasmania over the summer break. The plan would be to do some riding while were there. ( planning to take our car and bikes over on the Ferry )

Can anyone suggest some good places to ride or to base ourselves ?

We're not looking for any wild downhills, the boys are 8 and 13. They are comfortable riding at Awaba, Wingello, Sparrow Hill, Mount Annan etc. We spent a week at Forrest earlier this year and that was perfect. Rent a house in the village and ride to a number of different trails nearby.

3 days in Hobart, recommended trails?

I'll be heading down to Hobart for 3 days in the coming weeks. Does anyone have recommendations on good quality tracks around the area. Great single track, with technical stuff, AM stuff etc. don't want to waste time in heading to something that isn't that good. Have heard that North South track is pretty good, so will prob ride that at some point.

After riding the KC trails today, noticing all the muddy and wet areas and the bike needing a good rinse after the ride it made me think about Phytophthora cinnamomi.(dieback)
