A definite mixed bag, and not what you'd expect.

The singletrack network was almost all dry, with the main exception being right near the creek at Loftus. Rest of the singletrack was remarkably dry and in great shape.

The firetrails on the other hand were a bit of a disaster. There's quite a few really huge puddles, over ankle deep, for the full width of the road.

A great case study to show that well designed/maintained singletrack can drain better than a poorly maintained fireroad!

I was out there today at midday and although RNP drains well it seems there has been a bit of action on the track early/mid week resulting in some sections of the single track bwtn Engadine Stn and Rangers office being disturbed more than normal after rain. The clay single track that leads from Engadine down to the 3 ways (after the rock garden) showed movement in the clay indicating people were riding the trail when they probably shouldn't have been. And the area at the back of Engadine stn, near the swamp was the muddiest I have seen it after rain. We didn't even venture near Little Temptation as it would have been pretty eroded. RNP still needs a few days of blue sky and warm temps to dry up the tracks.
It's the monthly RNP Maintenance day next Sat 14 May 9-12, so a good opportunity to help out wth making the trails more sustainable.
