All good today except the fire road south of the point picnic table towards the creek crossing is still wet... oh and this little beauty was hanging out on it too!

Do you have more information?

I got a photo of a very similar looking snake, in the exact same spot, in feb.

Also known as diamond python - non venomous so not particularly dangerous. It was a beauty tho - very impressive.

Here is the python I saw. We have a Glenrock Animals Galery http://glenrocktrailalliance.com/node/19965 if you want to put photos of fauna in there.

i came across that guy yesterday morning

Hopefully no one runs it over. It's big enough to be seen well in advance though and the trail is wide so it shouldn't be an issue.

Lenny, I notice your photo is taken from way further back than Sarah's

I think your right looking at it closely. Mine was taken a few hundred meters south of the picnic table.

The first snake looks to be a little smaller as well. Would be great to think there is a healthy population of pythons getting around. I've heard of people seeing them on Gun Club Road as well.

All we need now is a photo of the Black Snake on the Hunter Water Rehab trail.

yeah sounds like a similar spot, can't remember quite how far along from the picnic table but it was before most of the wet patches I think so reasonable close. The one I saw must have just had breakfast, it was fat and not interested in moving out of the way! No danger of hitting it though, visible from a long way back.

I believe that Empy was highlighting the fact that Pinkbike was brave enough to get in close to the snake to take the photograph, and Sammydog was ummmmm, less close and perhaps not as brave. Empy, clarification please.

If any of you have seen me in the presence of anything I suspect could possibly be something resembling a snake, you would know it's pretty amazing that even with a telephoto lense I got close enough for a shot.
