Area:
Red Hill
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Rode on Sunday, first time in about 2 years.

Starting from LPD.

What a F***ing mess! The main trail from LPD, once you pass the dirt jump area is practically unrideable unless you like trials or don't get the whole "flow thing"

The rocky tracks (I think drop zone and 4wd folly) all seem to be ok and were certainly rideable.

The techy, rocky sections leading back up to the top plateau was as to be expected (rutted, rocky and challenging) with the sandy sections looking more like something from a soggy sea of tranquility. Again, riding quality looking pretty naff unless you also like to run gravel on your chain instead of lube.

I know the next time I ride here, I'll either start at academy of sport or the entrance near to Cromer golf course.

Status is based on the overall riding state. Some of the tracks were bone dry, and others were just silly.

I don't know how much of this is attributable to moto riders and how much is just unfortunate water erosion. I started riding here almost 10 years ago and I don't think I've ever seen it look so battered.

Do you have more information?

If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.

Its a combination of Moto and MTB riding there when its wet (just like yesterday hey?), although the Moto do perhaps 99% of the damage. They have absolutely ruined some good single track, the rim ride probably has a year or so left in it before its not worth the effort and they just keep rutting out the sandy muddy bits and then building more bypasses all the time thus widening the tracks and making it look terrible, you can just imagine what the bush walkers and friends of the lagoon that get up there feel about us riding MTB up there?

Anyhow its still can be a blast when its not muddy and you don't fall into a wheel rut and go OTB or something.

Mate....I have given up on the LPD entry as I always get depressed going that way.

The closest and next best entry is on Maybrook avenue Cromer Heights. Just turn right at the servo at the top and travel west up the road for 50 metres and teh entry is on the left just passed the bus turning circle.
