Fast, smooth, perfect conditions. Get in there. Good riding today. Didnt see anyone. Had a great time!

Do you have more information?

If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.

Was in there the day before. All to myself, conditions perfect except the shrubs and boughs were all heavy with the previous nights rain. So I was banging though a bunch of light shrubbery. It all ended very badly when I got caught up in a light shrub that had a heavy vine entangled in it. The vine is about the thickness of barbed wire with sharp thorns all along it, mongrel stuff. Anyhow, I was on a moderate decent when it grabbed the bar and reefed the bike out from under me.

I did what I can best describe as a superman hitting the gravel at around 30 kph. The result isn't pretty, I took the brunt on my right side, sustaining gravel rash on my thigh, torso and arms, with heavy grazing to the right arm and shoulder. Sad The real concern I had was my right arm. As the pain came flooding in I realized I could not feel or move it. I used my good arm to check for fractures, okay there. Phew. I lay in the bush for a while groaning, while swarms of Mosquitos had a feast, apparently the smell of blood attracts them. Who would have guessed? Smiling As the feeling and pain began to return in my arm, I regained some mobility and picked myself up. I bit of dizziness, so mild shock, but still okay. I'm pretty certain I've given my bad shoulder a severe wrench, momentarily dislocating it and pitching nerves. Limped home, got some first aid and will be okay, won't be riding for a while as arm is not working very well.

Went back later to check out the big slide mark I'd left in the gravel and bashed the shrubbery and vines into submission with my good arm.

Watch out for that mongrel vine it's a killer.

Happened to me a while back. Was flying down the end of that walking trail where it is all eroded and you have to stick to the left, put my foot out and my ankle got caught. I was zooming and luckily it came off and i was able to keep myself from getting rutted. But it was pretty scary. That bit of trail needs some serious work and so does that downhill from the hospital that winds. If you refer to my map of Jesmond its called "Stump" . If those two tracks had some work done to them, Jesmond would be awesome! I also love where they have widened the powerline easement with those grade reversals. Good bomber descent and the g forces get you as you come back up! I love jesmond to ride.

Sounds like we're talking about the same spot. My off happened on the loop I know as the Bicentennial Trail which has become badly eroded since it's prime in 1988 (there's still a plaque at the trail head). I had to keep well left to avoid the erosion gutter, it's not long before it opens into the old Two Up ring (the big grass clearing).

I'd be happy to chip in to help restore the trails if we can get something organised. Might be a bit single handed for awhile though. If you look you'll notice that there are gravel piles left here and there by the original trail builders for the purpose of maintenance.

'Stump' is a particular favorite. I enjoy the challenge of going over the granite falls. Took me a while to work out a good line there, it always gets the adrenaline going.

Was it you I saw go by on the Cannondale this morning?

Nah sorry I don't ride a cannondale. I love tearing down that rocky bit. Also would we just be able to rock up and start fixing up that trail (where it is eroded) or would we need any permission? Because we are helping the "environment" by fixing up eroded sections.
