Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

No doubt many of you are wondering whether the Manly Dam track has become too dry to ride after this extended (2 days and counting) period without heavy rain.

I can assure you this is not the case.

The track is pretty rideable at the moment, but nowhere is it dry. Personally I'd like to call it status "green" but there are still some issues so I'm going to keep the "amber" traffic light shining:

  • The wet section after Manly Vale School is still there, but getting smaller. All the way from there up to the Bowling Club is good
  • One boggy section at the start of the cut through after the Bowling Club, then good again until the downhill section above the Golf Course Rock (which is wet and muddy but not slippery). Then good again to the top of the steps at Wakehurst Parkway
  • The Wakehurst Parkway rock gardens are wet (but they are rock gardens, so not a problem)
  • Downhill to the Creek has a few puddles, and there are avoidable puddles here and there after the creek right across to Allambie
  • The single track under the wires down to the 19th Hole is surprisingly wet, pot-holed and muddy
  • Then it is good until you get to the quagmire which is huge - I decided to walk it
  • From there on the track is rough and eroded but pretty fine to ride at highest possible speed

Do you have more information?

If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.

So my report above will need updating.

My *guess* is that there will be a lot of standing water for a day or three (depending on weather) Smiling
