Manly Dam update for 15 Nov

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Green/Open

Clean, dry and just a little bit sandy in places. The Dam track is in excellent shape as of lunchtime Thursday.

I also noticed some recent additional dumbing down at Hawkeye's Bugbear; a few loose stones in random places; and motorcycle tracks on the downhill from the Wakehurst Parkway.

Wildlife Report: one Lace Monitor (about 1.5m) above the Golf Course singletrack and a thin black snake (about 0.8m) on the run down to the Hydraulic Lab at the bottom. No Butcherbird on Gibbs Street - has he retired? or was I just lucky.

Do you have more information?

If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.

That is one of the main reasons I like to ride in the bush to get that interaction!

Yep,theres nothing quite like inhaling a few creepy crawlies early in the morning Eye-wink Smiling

where exactly is Hawkeyes bugbear?

Specifically the roll-down off the lower big rock.

Some idiot has added yet another rock (obviously taken from the track above because you can see the hole) to the roll-off rock that was put there a while back. I don't understand why they don't just bulldoze it and pave the whole track.

ohh right. Thats where Hawkeeye did his collar bone.....or something . Right?

Nah, I managed to do that on a flat and otherwise featureless piece of ground at Kiwarrak* Sticking out tongue

The reason that last roll down is PITA is the number of newbs that go over the bars, last of whom I stumbled across managed to knock himself out and complained of being unable to move his arms when he came to. Ambos were duly called**.

* riding much too fast to make the approaching corner in greasy conditions, missed the entry line and the run-off line I needed was blocked by a big-arse gnarly tree. Panic grab of the brakes, down I go, shoulder was the first part of me to hit the deck. Sad Don't ride faster than you can see, boys and girls

** all good, no spinal injuries as it turned out. I stored his bike in my garage for a few days until his missus came to pick it up.
